Clear choices, limited information

Privacy & scope.

0TXT records a decision to stop SMS marketing and helps participating businesses act on it. The pilot is designed to disclose only what each business needs for its own contacts.

Voluntary registry changes are currently unavailable. Direct unsubscribe links still work.

Two separate choices

A direct unsubscribe link records a request to stop all SMS marketing from the named business. You do not need an account, a verification code or membership of the wider register.

Joining the voluntary register records a broader preference for participating businesses. You first verify control of the number. A register entry does not physically block messages and does not automatically notify every company in the world.

What is stored

Phone numbers are normalised to an international format for matching. The matching index uses a keyed fingerprint; it is not a plain hash that businesses can download. Where the pilot retains a phone number for an authorised operational purpose, the stored number is encrypted separately.

Records also include the request’s scope, time, verification state and relevant business/contact references. These remain personal-information records; encryption and fingerprints do not make them absolutely anonymous.

What businesses receive

A business receives decisions about the contacts it submits, using its own row or contact identifiers. It cannot download the shared register, its master fingerprints or other businesses’ contact records.

If a business expressly retains its contact mapping, later verified registrations can create matching requests in that business’s workspace. The business must then apply those requests in its own sending systems.

Files and retention in this pilot

Uploaded CSV files are processed in memory. Wash-result records are encrypted and available for 24 hours; expired results become unavailable and the operator’s cleanup task removes them. Optional retained contact mappings remain until an authorised operator deletes them.

Suppression and billing records are retained so a request is not silently lost or charged twice. The pilot operator must establish and publish production retention, access and deletion arrangements before using real consumer data.

Your choice remains separate from marketing consent

Leaving the voluntary register does not reverse an earlier unsubscribe sent to a business. A business finding no registry match still needs its own valid permission to send marketing. Service messages such as a requested verification code are outside the register’s SMS marketing preference.

What a confirmation means

A 0TXT confirmation means your request has been recorded. A business can acknowledge a request and report that it has applied it. That report is the business’s statement, not independent proof of what it later sends.

Local pilot communications

In local mode, verification codes and business summaries go to an operator-controlled outbox. No external SMS or email is sent by default. The site uses essential session cookies for security and access, with no advertising trackers or external fonts.

Manage your registry choice

You cannot join or leave the voluntary register while number verification is unavailable. Existing company-specific unsubscribe requests remain recorded.
